the woman wolf

The woman wolf

In a remote area of the woods, wondered

a lone wolf.

An unheard ideology in the world of wolves.

Her name was Keana.

She was alone by choice.

Nature called and called only to her. So she went.

Alone she was for quite some time.

She enjoyed herself.

Though she was ready to reintegrate.

Keana explored and found herself in places never seen before.

It pained her a bit to leave the special place.

Her home. Only hers.

In her heart, she knew the entirety of her experience in that place prepared her for the journey she was embarking on.

She didn’t want any trouble.

she saw a small pack hunting, she allowed her presence to become peaceful, mellow.

She approached slowly and with sound, so that they knew she wasn’t any threat.

She was met by 3 fierce male wolves, looking hungry.

They were surprised to see her- especially alone.

They smelled her all over- to the point she began to believe they were enjoying it.

She laughed a little bit.

The males led her in a new direction.

To the rest of the pack they went.

The woods were dark, mystical, mysterious.

When they arrived, it seemed some alarm bells went off for the other wolves.

A new woman in their home.

Can she be trusted?

She didn’t worry, for she knew she could be on her own.

Much sniffing occurred, questioning.

She wasn’t phased.

After a bit, she felt welcomed.

Comfortable to be herself and that is exactly what she was.

The pups took to her like bees on pollen.

Keana loved to watch them play and they loved the attention.

She felt warmth from the other woman, for they all shared the characteristics of strength and courage, yet emanated a loving warm presence. A perfect balance.

She admired the men and the way they provided for the pack. Their protection was felt.

As time flowed on, she was immersed in the family of the pack.

Holding down the fort, watching the young, tracking scents.

Life was great. And she never forgot how brave she was.

She simply appreciated the opportunity to bask in it with others, who themselves are experiencing a personal journey.

The night came as he always did.

And something lingered in the shadows.

Something threatening.

Keana rose and wandered the borders of their home.

Sniffing away.

It happened so quick.

Eye contact with a vicious coyote.

A male that she knew.

She allowed one second of fury,

Before the gates of her soul were unleashed.

She pounced and bit and clawed and squeezed.

Only when she felt his weight collapse into her did she let go.

There he lay.

Before long the entirety of the pack was behind her.

Looking at the same thing she was.

They were stunned. All of them

How?

Keana breathed deeply and looked to her fellows with love.

She walked away from camp.

Never to return.

For she left her mark.

And that my friends, is all you can ever do.

Nature once again called, and the call was only to her.

What wolf would she be if she didn’t answer?

She felt a sting on her side.

This didn’t hurt her, it empowered her.

Reminded her.

She will always be alone.

Keana was led to a beautiful space near a creek of running water.

There she lived, loved, and slept.

One morning, she was met by a visitor, a young pup.

He wondered, hesitantly toward her.

She sniffed and she recognized him.

It was a pup from the pack!

They spent time dancing in the water, he showed her his fancy tricks, they ate.

As the sun began to set, Keana focused in on getting him home.

When he felt this, the pup became frightened.

He ran away and Keana followed him.

He stopped and Keana was right behind him.

A female wolf lay dead in the middle of a tree covered woods.

It was his mother.

Keana dragged her body back to the pack’s base and mourned with the others.

A male approached Keana and looked to her side.

There was the pup.

His name was Neki.

In that moment she knew, this was nature’s call.

The call was ever changing.

And she knew the greatest call was not to follow.

But to show the world how to listen.
