the master

the student had deep admiration for her mentor

watching and repeating everything he did.

from what he ate to when he slept and his hobbies.

she mirrored it all.

felt even further from herself.

well, the reason was no secret

but she still wondered why?

more truthfully, she wondered how?

her master never addressed the situation.

thankfully,

she thought.

because it would be quite embarrassing for him to say

"why are you copying me?"

but with this thought,

she realized he probably already knew.

so on they went.

as life flowed on,

they began more deepening challenges.

balancing across fallen trees.

cold water swims.

meditation in solitude.

she continued mirroring.

it was almost like an addiction.

one morning after a cold swim,

her master was lifeless.

blue in the face and motionless.

laying in the winter sun,

without an ounce of energy to be seen.

she broke down,

not knowing what to do.

she laid next to him.

as she stared at the sky,

she found herself being called into meditation ;

and in she went.

she looked around.

but still followed the call.

new heights,

new sights,

freedom.

she felt safe.

she felt her cage dissolving away.

so supported

nourished.

"we've been waiting"

she heard.

she giggled.

when she came out of this sacred space,

she came to her knees.

honoring the greatness of the whole of god.

the power of her lessons,

and the abundance of service.

she looked over to find her master;

up awake and smiling.

no words were exchanged.

a mutual, not mirrored,

soft, all-knowing smile.

together,

into the unknown they went.

to explore the powers within,

every end,

signals a time to begin.
