Love is a Mystic

Love has a way of creeping in on us; it hides with surprise and strives for egoic demise. It creeps like a shadow in the night and makes its presence known on its own terms. Love is a mystic. Unable to predict the next move, keeping the poor victim on its toes.  

It can pull you in so deep, to the most unsuspecting places, and as soon as you get comfortable, push you right back out. Love is what we all crave, what we’re all seeking, in hopes it’s seeking us back in a timely manner. Rarely that is the case.  

When we run, it finds us. When we crave it, it hides 

Love plays games because it is the master of the deck, the captain of fate. Face up or face down, it will keep you until it sees fit to let you go.  

 It has a magical ability to give you a rush tenser than any sort of drug. It can make you feel more in a brief second than you’ve felt in a lifetime. A deeper sensation in an exchange of eye contact than you’ve felt your whole life.

Love is a mystic, appearing unannounced. No matter how many songs or movies we make about it, it can never be pinned down. When you’re least expecting it, it appears. It can possess you and overtake you and drag you about. It’s like the thrill of a roller coaster that never lets you off. You chase it and you find it and you never feel the same. It will toss you out just to pull you back in.  

Again and again, you put down the bottle and nevertheless pick it back up again. A timeless classic sits upon the self, finding its way into your lap only when it decides you’re ready. It slaps you in the face while simultaneously kissing you on the cheek. It rears its ugly, beautiful face into the most unnerving situations to push you off a cliff into a feather bed. It welcomes you inside to a home cooked meal only to rip it away from you when you’re halfway done.  

Love is a mystic. Its here one day and gone the next. It’s a game of hide and seek you can never win. It’s a world you can live in only when abiding by it’s ever-changing rules.  

Love is a mystic; that shows you in the end, it’s worth a try.
