the beauty of metaphors
for today's entry, i would love to draw attention to the concept of metaphors. they are present in each waking moment of our lives, as they are closely related to symbols, which are the the basis of our existence in the waking reality.
so metaphors....the beauty in them. for they are a translation of the intangible to an idea that allows the wholeness of our being to engage. they require patience, openness, and surrender to a new idea or way. it is suchhhh a beautiful feeling to understand a metaphor. the key is to not try to understand what the author is attempting to articulate, rather what energy the piece is engaging with in your psyche. for so long i never understood metaphors- and that was why... i wanted to know what the author meant. this was not just how i interpreted metaphors, it was how i was living. constantly interpreting from everyone's moving perspective, not stabilizing and setting into my own unique interpretation of life and it's lessons. things do not mean the same to everyone and that's what is so beautiful. what you see is what you are, and only you truly know.
lets talk about a few of my currents:
"from nothing to nothing is no time at all"
-John Steinbeck in East of Eden
my interpretation: that time is actually attached to nothing. it is an endless motion that continues forever and ever. we create boundaries and limitations for time in our own lives. think of a pendulum swinging, no beginning no end, no resting point, just back and fourth. in essence, time is truly the earthly interpretation of freedom of the universe.
"tried to change the ending peter losing wendy"
-Taylor Swift cardigan
my interpretation: many times we run away from or try to control what is truly meant for us , usual driven by fear. deep down, we know what is meant to be, we know what is necessary for us to flourish, but many times it is hiding behind darkness. this scares us and we run away, try to tell ourselves it's not meant to be, drown ourselves in other earthly desires, but deep down we recognize that we must surrender "that you'd come back to meee." what this is verse tells me is that, our souls know where it is to go, and we want to change it. we make ourselves struggle because we cannot reason to walk blindly, but eventually destiny over takes us. we wise up
okay last one today
"stand on your own two feet"
-unknown
this is a great one, and i have just recently appreciated its depth. what this means is that standing on your own gives you the greatest power- you are within your own aura, connected with one thing and that is earth. this is not only present in conflict, at first this was a major interpretation for me. this is a constant present idea. to be able to stand with yourself and need no outside balance is a beautiful thing. standing on your own two feet means you have balance within yourself, you feel yourself deeply, and allow yourself to create a life of your own dream, not needing only desiring with the fullness of your balanced heart. yourself=soul.
i would love for you to share any metaphors in the comments, and share your interpretations of these!!
thanks for reading my love.
