the only star alive

she twinkled and danced

she thanked the sky as the shined

the only star in the sky

gave her confidence and peace of mind.

her time to shine when the sun went away,

the moon through it’s phases

gave way to her praise.

as she aged the age moved on,

she faded,

lost the fire within her heart.

she became more like the backdrop

that allowed her to shine.

darker and darker,

dissolving so slowly

until her body she no longer recognized.

she was thankful and happy and at peace with it all.

until one day, she realized,

she wasn’t the only star at all.

there were hundreds, maybe thousands that shined with her each night.

they were there, they were bright,

but for some reason she never saw their light.

“That’s because you see within”

she heard come from behind.

“The outside for the eyes

the inside for the mind”

It was the moon.

Full and Powerful,

a shine you couldn’t deny.

The magnetic energy delivered

“To live doesn’t mean you’re alive.

You felt like you were the only star in the sky

because you were the only star in the life.

A star is not just a light but an energy,

a portal to something brighter,

a light within the dark.

The light comes from within,

true light comes from the heart.

You light fades here because it’s now on the other side.

You feed the stars,

as they are proof of life from afar.

Thank you my dear.

I will know now when you reappear.”

The only star alive took it all in.

She breathed, she cried, and she looked around.

For even stars life is temporary.

Back she would come,

with her wisdom and her love,

to sparkle in the dark,

like she was the only star alive.
